This embroidery workshop is suited for adults ages 18+
Join us for a festive hand-embroidered ornament workshop, where you will create a beautiful keepsake to add to your holiday décor or make as a gift to lift someone else’s spirit this year. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn five essential embroidery stitches:

·     Straight stitch,
·     Backstitch,
·     Stem stitch,
·     Chain stitch,
·     and French knot.

You’ll be able to create a unique ornament pattern or select from a range of pre-made designs. Learn two ways to finish and display your ornament choosing between a hoop for a classic look or stuffed ornament for a fun 3D pillowy effect. These ornaments will make wonderful gifts for loved ones or add a hand-crafted touch to your home during the holiday season.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Amanda Banks is a self-taught mixed-media fiber artist residing and practicing in North Georgia. Their work depends on and responds to the environments they inhabit, guiding the visual outcome of many pieces. Amanda is an alumni resident of Arrowmont Pentaculum, Stoveworks, and Chautauqua School of Art. She has taught workshops privately and in collaboration with educational institutions. She has most recently exhibited at the Information Space in Philadelphia, PA, Chautauqua School of Art, Spruill Gallery, EchoContemporary, Stoveworks Gallery, and Moon Gallery on the campus of Berry College. She is currently listening to and facilitating conversations between metals and fibers, expanding into sculpture, and planning collaborative community-based projects.
