Note: Minors must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder


Whether you're a young adult looking to explore a new hobby or a retiree seeking a relaxing pastime, our 5-week Beginner Crochet Workshop is perfect for individuals eager to learn the art of crochet!


Every Thursday or Saturday over 5 weeks, you'll delve into the fundamentals of crocheting under the guidance of your instructor, Margaret Park. From mastering the basics—like holding your crochet hook and yarn, creating a slip knot, and crafting single and double crochet stitches—to advancing your skills with fun practical projects.


Throughout the workshop, you'll create:


Week 1: Pot Holder - Learn foundational techniques, single and double crochet.

Week 2: Headband - Explore increasing and decreasing techniques for shaping.

Week 3: Fringe Scarf - Combine single and double crochet to add texture and style.

Week 4: Granny Square - Dive into 2 tone color changes and pattern construction with a classic motif.

Week 5: 3-Dimentional Pumpkin - Just in time for fall, learn how to crochet a pumpkin that makes a great gift or accessory.


Noteworthy:

Each item will be started in class and finished at home. Students will purchase the materials themselves. (See supply list below) We have partnered with our neighbors at:

Chattanooga Yarn Company who have put together ready-to-go yarn kits for your convenience. Just mention you are taking this beginner crochet class at Bud's Creative Arts Center and they'll take care of you.

No prior experience necessary. Materials are not included but don't fret, we've added a supply list and even partnered with a local yarn shop.

  • Yarn needle

  • Small Scissors

  • 2 oz worsted weight cotton yarn (pick two different colors)

  • Size J,F, and H crochet hooks

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Margaret Park Originally from Chicago, Margaret is an artist working with many mediums. We recently had the pleasure of hosting Margaret for her watercolor workshop and we are so happy to have her back, teaching her Beginner Crochet workshop series at Bud's Creative Arts Center.
